Being New Again

It seems amazing that it has been only two days since I started to eat again. Things are settling down into a routine. In the morning my breakfast arrives just before 9am. I wait for Laverne who arrives just after 9. It's strange to have to wait and have to depend upon someone else to feed me. Deb W. said it reminded her of when her children were learning to eat and it is humbling but true. It reminds me of the first Bible verse I memorized after becoming a Christian. 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! It is like being new all over again as a Christian as I have to be trusting more in God as all my own resources are gone.

  1. Good Morning John and Laverne~Just wanted to say Hello, we're thinking of you, and praying for you daily. We have our Kids Club kick off tonight, and I'm quite excited to see the kids. Pray that it will be a fun night for them, and that there are enough adults to supervise the kids! We miss you both so much, but are so strengthened by your words each day, the hope that lives in you, and the steadfast faith and trust you have in our Saviour. I hope you enjoyed your peanut butter sandwich!! xoxo
    Much Love,
    MariAnn and Peter

  2. It is good to be able to get into a routine. I find it also important to do that. I had my first nursing midterm and I think it went pretty well... but... I have to take statistics... and the 3rd years say it is very hard.

John, every day I watch for God's miracles for you, no matter how small, I see them and give thanks for His mighty hand on you. He is all powerful....

  4. Hi John and laverne

So, one of the two weddings was my daughter, Charlotte's wedding and it was beautiful. The young couple had a beautiful sunny day and although they were late in starting the ceremony, it all worked out very well. It was quite emotional to see my daughter standing there at the altar and Paul giving her away. She has married a wonderful young man, who loves her dearly and they are on their way to a great start. I am thankful that God instituted marriage as a way of never having to be alone, never having to go through struggles alone. We all know that the Lord is always with us and we are never without Him, but He has given us a spouse to be there physically with us in sickness and in health.

It is good to know, as a mother, that our children have someone to share good and bad with. I just pray that this young couple has the chance to really grow close before their love gets tested.

  5. Hi John, I go to Hillside Church and we as a church have been praying for you continually. After reading your blogs, I myself have been so encouraged and grateful to God for how He is working all this for His glory and His kingdom. I think to myself, how would I handle a situation like this, I don't know, but I know God will give us the grace and strength to face every situation we may encounter in life. I believe the Word of God is powerful and as you are demonstrating it is working in our hearts and lives to accomplish His Will and Kingdom on this earth. We need to be empowered by that Word daily, it is our life line. I think of a old hymn we sang at church when I was growing up In Shady Green Pastures, it says, God leads us along, some through the waters, some through the fire, some through great trials, but all through the blood, some through great sorrow but God gives a song in the night season and all the day long. Our hope and trust is in the Lord no matter what our circumstances, He is God and He has a plan for our good. God bless you John, thanks for being there for us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. In Christ's love, Donna MacKenzie, PS I am involved with children's ministry at church and we were so blessed having your daughter Katie in charge, we certainly miss her in the children' department, but happy to see her on Sundays. She is a joy! Jeremiah 29:11
