Come and see us at Safeway

Today is the first Sunday of Advent and it reminds me that the Christmas season is a great time to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ. I Peter 3:151Pe 3:15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, John and I will be at the Salvation Army kettle in PR at Safeway on Friday Dec 3 and Tuesday Dec 7 between 2-4. Pray for us that we would be ready to share the reason for the hope that is in Christ. We appreciate all your support in reading the blog and praying for us. If you are in town do drop by and say hi.

A great trip and a new command

The first part of this week has been taken up with a trip to Vancouver in the snow. The original plan was for me to stay in ECU in Powell River but they were unable to accommodate me at this time. Instead I went with Laverne and Maria and stayed at Marsha’s (Laverne’s sister). The main purpose was to renew Maria’s passport which she was able to do. It was renewed for 5 years Praise God! I was much more energetic and able to enjoy the things we did. Highlights were shopping at Regent College bookstore, seeing the latest Harry Potter movie and attending Family Night at Cascades Chapel. While the kids played games in the gym the adults studied about love. The key verses were John 13:34,35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." The point I got out of it was love is the mark of the disciple of Christ. I look forward putting it into practice during this Christmas season. Please pray John 13:34,35 for our family this Christmas

Open my eyes

A few days ago in our morning Bible reading we read the story of the woman at the well from John 4. It struck me then as it always does that the woman was not looking for Jesus but Jesus came to her and touched her life where it was most needed. At times since my accident I have been in need like the woman and Jesus has come to me when I was least looking for him. I seem to be physically getting better every day but spiritually I value prayers on my behalf.

Three Stars

Third Star-Saturday morning Men’s prayer meeting. It is a great start to a weekend. On Friday night I usually worry about getting up in time but when Saturday comes it is great to be down at the church at 8am praying for each other and our church family.
Second Star-the telephone. Tonight we had a phone call from Lee Guay in California. He told me all about swimming and how hot the weather was.
First Star-fellowship with God through prayer and daily Bible reading. I also appreciate sharing this star with you as we pray for each other and see God at work in our lives.
Update-I feel 100% better. Your prayers have been answered but I still need them. Thanks for your continuing prayer

Tired

It has been over a week since we last blogged. This is partly because John has been very tired. He has managed to make it to church and to make appointments but not much else. He also lost his appetite and some weight as well. We are thankful that his good appetite has returned. Please pray for John that during this time when he is feeling so tired that his confidence “that he who began a good work in (him) will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ “ Phil 1:6
