Recurring Infection

For over a month John has been struggling with a recurring infection which he doesn’t seem to be able to shake. He has made numerous trips to his doctor and to emergency. This week is a busy week as he is to see the urologist in Courtenay on Monday and then we go to Vancouver on Wednesday for a one year follow up with his surgeon on Friday. Please pray that the doctors will have wisdom in being able to determine the source of this infection. It is very draining on John and leaves his very tired. Pray also for safety for us on the trips we make to the island and lower mainland.

My chair has a mind of its own

On the first ferry [to Langdale] the elevator was small and the chair pinned Laverne to the wall and then lost power. Fortunately there were friends who helped us push the chair into the van and the next day the serviceman was at the house before 8:30. This reminded me that we all need each other which was the theme of my talk at the campus kick-off Friday. I asked the students to look around and realize they could all help each other. Please pray that when I want to go my own way there will be someone there to help me.

Finishing Touches

Yesterday I received my new chair – colour – orange brule – Yah! There were some special things they did for my chair to accommodate my ventilator. It reminded me of a button that was popular about 30 years ago that said PBPGINFWMY – (please be patient, God is not finished with me yet) because after receiving the chair and working with getting it right today we still had to get some more adjustments made. Thank you all for staying with us through the long finishing process

Encouragement

Let us encourage one another Hebrews 10:24. On Saturday morning we have men’s prayer meeting and I find having someone else to go with means I am encouraged to go myself so Lee and I go every Saturday together. I am sure we encourage one another. Another encouragement for me is when people read my blog. It is exciting to read interactions with the blog or to meet people who tell me they read the blog regularly. Please pray that all would go well on our trip to Vancouver going down Monday and returning on Wednesday.

Community

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. Margaret MEAD
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." JESUS
Earlier this week I visited my doctor where the first quote was on the wall of the examination room. Last night I attended a meeting of the Kelly Creek Community School where there was a visible demonstration of the first quote as people rallied around to keep the community aspect of the school alive. The second quote came to mind as I thought of all the things people had done to help me get back into the house. Let’s together pray for the success of the school this year.

Travel

A week tomorrow I will be heading back to Vancouver. I am looking forward to getting my own personal wheelchair. I will be meeting with my OT from GF Strong to get the seating right. I am anticipating having my chair set up for me. I am fortunate to have one of my caregivers going with me to Vancouver. This will make things easier for both me and Laverne. I am also going to the Rehab Equipment Expo to see what kind of things there might be to help me. Please pray Col 3:2 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” for me so I won’t get too taken up with things on the earth.
