Happy New Year

Continuing instant in prayer –
Be persevering in prayer. The meaning of this direction is, that in order to discharge aright the duties of the Christian life, and especially to maintain a joyful hope, and to be sustained in the midst of afflictions, it is necessary to cherish a spirit of prayer, and to live near to God. A comment on the blog quoting Romans 12:12 confirmed a desire that is on my heart for 2011 and that is to develop my prayer life. As such my blog will have a focus on praying in the coming year. I have lots to pray about and I would ask you to join me in this adventure.

Christmas

Today I spent Christmas with Laverne and Maria and we had family and a friend for Christmas dinner. As I was thinking of Christmas I remembered the pageants I was a part of in Sunday School when we celebrated the best Christmas Gift “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11 For me this Christmas is a season of thanksgiving. I thank God for the continued improvement of my health, family and friends that take care of my needs, for a clear mind, and most of all for the gift of God’s Son

Christmas from a Wheelchair

Today I am feeling a little discouraged as I have had a bad time with spasms. When I feel like this I remember a story from the life of David when he was discouraged he found his strength in the Lord-! Samuel 30:6 so this evening I have been asking God to encourage me using Isaiah 41:10 as a promise from God (fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand) I would also enlist your prayers for this Christmastime and thank you for your support for the past couple of years.

Opportunity at Christmas

Today we had the opportunity to look after the kettles for Salvation Army at Safeway. Some people were very generous and I met several people that I knew. It was a working out of Gal 6:10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone. We will also be at Safeway with the kettles again on Tuesday Dec 7 between 2&4 so come and visit us and bring a donation for the kettle.

Calm in the storm - blessings and praises

1 ATV was on the trail minutes after Johns accident. He was able to get help ASAP while Laverne was able to stay and assist.

2 The cement blocks had been removed from the beginning of the logging road so that the ambulance could back in right away.

3 The nurses at the hospital were the right ones. One worked with John and one graduated with Laverne. They were Connie and Ellen.

4 Good friends Lee & Don, Bob & Pat were at the hospital quickly.

5 Laverne was able to fly with John on the Medivac helicopter as this is unusual.

6 In vancouver Beth Sykes a Cascades church friend was coming on shift on ICU after a week in Mexico.

7 Tom Freeman a friend was in town to Visit John the first day.

8 The many prayers and help. Those who have helped by taking DVBS, feeding cat, gathering belongings, (and bringing them down), and getting the bikes home.

9 Karen from 100 Huntley St called out friend Patricia and said she sensed that a close friend needed prayer.

10 Sister Eleanor was able to get a quick flight and be there before surgery.

11 John was able and ready to get a tracheotomy in good time instead of days or weeks later.
