Encourage one another

Today was a quiet day for John. He enjoyed having communion with Ian which is always special for him. He is feeling very tired and has a fever. We were reading 1 Thessalonions 4&5 today. When I looked at it again this evening before writing the blog 1 Thess 5:11 jumped out at me. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. " So many people have told us how encouraged they are by the blog and I must say that John and I have been so encouraged and built up by your prayers and comments

  1. I will carry on encouraging you with 2 Corinthians 12 - our weakness and Christ's power. Rest assured John that God is using your weakened condition to bring him glory. And Laverne, may God continue to strengthen you. You are both amazing.

  3. what a priveledge it is to live in this day and age, where we have the freedom to celebrate our faith. Where we all can have a bible to go to to read His word, whenever we want. Where we can share that word and that faith with others and where we can encourage each other in person, over the phone and even over the internet.
How blessed we are that we can share our lives like that and still be so far away from each other distance wise.

I did not sleep well last night, could not fall asleep and when I did, I woke up quite a few times. It made me think of John and where he is right now. How hard it must be to fall asleep in a hospital setting and all the lights and noices that come with it, and of course the whole situation the way it is and I found myself praying for the 3 of you.
I am sure I am not the only one who wakes us and is in prayer for you. Know that we are praying day and night, you are all lifted up before the Lord.
Thank you for sharing so that we know what to pray for, but also showing us how real you are. That knowing God does not mean that we have no problems in our lives, but that knowing God means that we have a powerful God to go to, who made us and loved us so much that He was willing to give his own Son to die for us.
And He has given us this wonderful family that we can rely on to help us, encourage us and be there in our needs.

Thank you for your willingness to share your days with us so that we can be a real family, who share and loves and lifts each other up.
I am thankful to be part of this family and have you in there as well

  4. We will continue to encourage you both with our prayers. John we pray your fever comes down and you are feeling better.

Kids Club went well..20 children came out. They all went to the gym for games. When they came back and after devotions the younger ones did craft upstairs, the older ones went downstairs with Bob to paint nativity figures. There are 6 older ones!

Take care and remember God is being glorified by the work you are doing reaching out to others daily. May He continue to strenghten you..

    Love and prayers,
    Gerry and Alma

  5. I heard once, of Christians in Russia, when it was not allowed, and they would continue to meet, but, not location was given, they would find each other in the woods...I forget, am sorry the rest of the story...but faith...it is the strongest tool we have... I know you have faith and that God is guiding you though this..it may not seem possible now but God will find a way, sending you prayers daily
