A Quiet Day

Today being Sunday was a quiet day as far as therapy is concerned. My sister and family all visited John and he had to show them how he could drive his wheelchair. He has managed a couple of slight left turns but not on a consistent basis. Hopefully by the end of the week he will have managed that. He can sure do a sharp right turn. The wheel chair is big but he has it making a very tight right hand turn. John's brother Robin also came down to see John today and that was a big event for John. He remains tired but he is up and about and doing more than he has for some time so I guess he should be tired. Pray that we will continue to look to God for our strength.

  1. hey john... I've been chuckling about your left turn dilemna... my granddaughters watch a movie (not veggie tales, which I know is your favorite) where one of the characters keeps saying "leftyloooo"... maybe you need to practice "righteeoooo" and make 3 right turns to equal one left:) just a thought... gets you to the same place... just different directions:)

    blessings, sharon

  2. Good Morning,

I too, have been giggling over the left turn dilemma! I can't help but think of my Grandma, who would drive blocks out of her way to AVOID a left turn!! :) So much so, that when we went to see her this past June, her right turning signal was burned out!! :)

Thanks for all you share with us John and Laverne, we all miss you deeply, and continue to pray for you all, and have faith that you'll be home with us at Kelly Creek in 2010.

Merry Christmas, with lots of love,
    MariAnn and Peter

  3. so here we are, all sharing our problems with lefties. I am sure there must be a reason for that :) I will write this on my list of questions to ask when I meet my Lord; why are we wired like that?"

What a blessing to know that you can make it home at some point. And what a great thing to work towards.

Do not be like my dad though, John, who thought if one is good, than maybe 3 is better. (He had a bad cold once and being self-employed and a window cleaner at that, he could not afford not to go to work. Now someone told him that having some cognac with a raw egg would be a great help. My dad was not a drinker, so he did not know much about it, but like I said; if one is good than three is much better. My dad, bless his heart, drank the most of the bottle and went to bed.
It has to be said that he did not have a cold anymore the next morning, but he did have quite the hangover.)

Moral of the story; pace yourself. Make sure that you do what you can, but not more than that. You do not want to overtire yourself so that you cannot practise for a few days because of it. Steady is the way

Enough lessons from me, wishing you a great day, knowing that you are in our prayers
