Looking to God

Yesterday when John was so sleepy it was discouraging for me but a mother of one of the patient was very encouraging and telling me I need to ask God for wisdom and take all my requests to him. It really did help me focus more on what I could do rather than how I was feeling about the situation. Later on I was talking to another friend and again was encouraged to look to God. It is great to have friends like that. Today I wasn't sure how John would be but he was so much more awake and I could see how God was answering our prayers.

  1. Hi Laverne
I remember 15 years ago when we had just left everything behind in Ontario, put all our belongings in storage and put children, dogs and all we needed for a time and went on the road towards BC. We did not know where we would end up and there was not time limit. We had each other and needed nothing else. But halfway the trip I started to be restless and needed to talk to some of my friends back in Ontario.

We were in Coombs on a campground, the children and Paul were in the swimming pool there and I took a big handful of quarters on my way to the public phone. I so needed to talk to my best friend. I dialed the number and no-one picked up. I was so disappointed and my needs had not been met.

As I walked back to our camper, with my handful of money, I felt the Lord tugging on my shirt, as to say, "I am here, I am what you need. Just talk to me, I am a very good listener".

Of course He was there and when I realized that and went to Him with my needs and my frustration, He gave me what I needed. And after talking to Him I realized that He had given me more than my friend could have given me.

You are in my prayers, Laverne

  2. HI Laverne,

There are several moments when we call on God to help us with situations...

One was when I had to get up and speak in front of a group and I was frozen with fear...my heart was pounding so loudly I could hear nothing around me.
I prayed and asked God to please take away this fear and calm me down. It was like a storm had passed, like it never happened..My heart stopped pounding and the room came back to normal..My name was called, I got up and the Lord led the way.... It was amazing!!

It is so wonderful to know God is near and we can call on Him always.

    Love and prayers..

  3. You are both on an amazing journey. Each of you on a different learning curve every day. Reaching the limits but then able to go beyond them. Reaching out to others and they understand and give encouragement to each of you. Sitting with John and enjoying the sun on your face brought a smile to my face. My favourite song is by Johnny Reid and it is 'Feelin' Alright Today'. It goes - I'm feeling alright today I've got the sun shining on my face. I wanted to share that with you because although many might think it's trivial - that moment of sunshine enjoyed together is a remarkable moment. Capturing the moment ..... close your eyes and you're there - and you know you can get through that next curve. Take Care, Sherri
