John typed this himself!!

When good things I do bring me no reward
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 ESV (1) If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. (2) And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (3) If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Today I want to ask you to pray my love will increase. Verse 1 for instance, can be applied to these blog entries. Do I write believing that it will help you pray for me or so that you can see how spiritual I am.
Verse 2 might apply to the Bible verses I share with you. Am I helping you or trying to impress you
Verse 3 might refer to my injury. Is it truly God’s plan for me, or am I using my injury to be a Christian martyr. I hope you can see from these examples why I want you to pray.

  1. Dear fellow traveller on the Christian road.

    I like your honesty.

I would think that most of us ask ourselves the same thing when we write, speak, expound or just plain live.

And again, an assumption, most of us can put on the perfect disguise.

The great thing though John, is that we cannot ' fool' him.

You are crying out in your heart to be honest and to be true. Rest in HIM that HE will lead you and guide you and when and if you do get off track, trust HIM to gently bring you back.

And congratulations for writing your words yourself.

    :) Well done.

  2. Congratulations John,

I am thrilled for you! It is only through Him that we can do anything, be it producing words without fingers for typing, or running a farm. May God receive all praise and glory.

    Love, Robin.

  4. Way to go John! We're watching the Olympic athletes at the men's hockey game right now. But you're one yourself, going for gold. Overjoyed, Mark and Susan

  5. Hi John:

My thoughts exactly! I have been struggling with these questions for quite some time now. Am I really trying to get closer to God? Or am I doing it for show? Do I really believe in the verse on the back of my truck? Or not? Is it because I want to make a statement of my faith? Or is it for the benefit of the rest of the church? Well my friend, after giving this much thought I have come to the conclusion that to be a Christian is to be out there and to be proud of it. To stick out like that little light that Jesus spoke about. So we look at you as a man who has not given up, as a man that is working hard to normalize his life and a man who has not abandoned his faith despite the accident and despite the expectation that our God looks after us. It is this hard work, determination and more importantly your staunch determination to reach out for God and bring Him closer to your heart than before; it is this Christian determination that has given many of us the strength to hold on to our faith even stronger than before. It is your faith my friend that keeps us connected to you and as we gain strength from your example we hope that you are also gaining strength from our support and prayers for your recovery.

    Cheers
    Mark

  7. I was just wondering if our Canadian athletes have been reading your blog. I really think they should make you an honorary member for the insiration you give all of us. If it was not for your determination who knows where my path would of gone. I have relied on your passion for life and love and it truly inspires me to reach loftier goals. Thanks from Dorie :O) Just two more modules and I get my diploma to tutor others in ESL.
