Low Blood Pressure

Monday, September 21, 2009
Today the staff are starting to be a bit more aggressive treating John's low blood pressure. The ICU doctor that first looked after him when he came to the step down unit is back (they rotate through the unit) and I think he wants to see something happen. His nurse is also carefully monitoring everything. I trust that focusing can help solve this problem. Today he was up and with careful monitoring he sat quite far up. The days can be quite long but he enjoys listening to the radio and cd's

  1. Hello John, Lavern, and Katie
I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. If there is anything at all you need just give Chris and I a call :) Take care.

  2. Hi John--I'd like to share something with you--I am thinking of a special young couple in Africa right now--on a Mercy Ship which offers free medical care--the young woman is helping with surgeries--the young man is "chipin' paint"--not quite the "adventure" he had anticipated. Yet God is sooo speaking to his heart and a couple of days ago he shared about a teenage boy whose life has been drastically and positively changed through surgery on a severely deformed cleft lip. And a first time awareness of the true and living, personal Almighty God. WOW, hey? The young man "chipin' paint" is becoming so aware of the everyday "miracles" that are taking place 5 decks below him and he's realizing that his life, doing the work he's doing, is important to the work GOD is doing. It's not really about "chipin' paint"--it's about his heart's focus. One miracle I am consistently aware of with your life since your accident John, is that God has protected your intellect and personality. For so many years you have sought God's truths, you have applied God's truths, and you have shared God's truths. God continues to speak to you through passages and hymns/songs you have known and loved. WOW--what a magnificent miracle that is!! It's still all inside of you!! And, God is continuing to use you, despite the situation at hand, to share those truths with others--folks whom He has brought upon your pathway this past month. Your room is FILLED with His Presence, and ALL (including all medical staff) will feel Him there--even if they can't "put their finger" on what is "different" about yourself and your precious Laverne. I thank Him so much for this miracle in your life. In one of those quieter moments, it would be super if you could bring before the Lord the young couple I mentioned who are just starting out on a one year mission in Africa--your genuine "chats with the Lord" will truly bless their lives. Thank you John. In Him--Kathie Pritchard

  3. Dear John,
this is not a "Dear John letter" it is my journey with you. You throw all these John, Proverbs, Isaiah, 1 Peter, Romans at me and I have to look them up and be just in awe how you know your bible. Here I am still after almost 12 years of bible study with you and Laverne and I feel so incompetent (wander if this is the right word???). So you keep me going and tracking along, but I know in my heart that this is the right way. Thank you for this. We pray for you and your family, especially Laverne your angel on earth. Love Tom and Inge-Lore
