As anyone who has travelled with John would know, the Minister's Cat is his favourite game for car trips. And, if you have ever played this game with him, you will know that his superior vocabulary makes him an expert. To play, one person starts by using a descriptive word to describe the 'minister's cat' beginning with a-z. This blog is dedicated to John, in order to update friends and family about his journey and provide areas of prayer.

New Skills
Yesterday I practiced suctioning on a dummy. Today I was expecting to suction John but before I did the RT asked me if I would put in John's new trach - it gets changed every week. I took a deep breath and said yes and of course everything went very smoothly. After that I suctioned John - he is a very accommodating and encouraging patient. After that John had some independent breathing trials. that was just our morning - no wonder he gets tired by the time supper comes!

another area in your married life where you have to learn to trust each other. "and the two became one". What a blessing that the two of you have had so many years together where you have been able to "practise".
ReplyDeleteAnd another area where you have to learn to trust the Lord even more :-)
I am so glad for you, Laverne, that you have the nursing background, I am sure it must be a great help to the both of you. I am also so glad for both of you that you have built your lives on Him, what a blessing that is as well.
Every night before I fall asleep, I am with you in my thoughts and bring you before the Lord
Have a great week
Laverne, reading your blog today made me think about having to give Dad his first Aranesp shot. I have no nursing experience and I couldn't even look when my own children were being given their vaccinations, yet I needed to learn to give a needle to my father. Yikes! But I did it and I felt very proud of myself. We do what we need to do for our loved ones. You are very lucky John is so 'accomodating and encouraging'. You both inspire me so much. I read your blog at night and then I think about John and Your love for each other and how you both have put your trust in God. You know that He is in control and He is guiding you to to where you are needed the most to spread His word.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you both.

Wow...such exciting stuff for you both! Walks outside, holding your head up, new driving, dealing with necessary details, the luxury of total time with the Lord...thanks always for sharing with us all of these many miraculous things. You are so loved and appreciated, and such a huge blessing to us all.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if you heard, Mr Ogden has new wheels too...he DROVE into my work to visit yesterday...he's mobile again and seemed tickled pink with his scooter...a new lease on life for him after having his wings clipped for a spell. Couldn't help but think of you too...can't wait to see you with here your new wheels!
Love and prayers always

Way to go Laverne!
ReplyDeleteThis is an exciting time for you both..learning new things to bring you closer to home in the future.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Laverne; and John for being so encouraging to you. True love holds no bounds..
God's hand is on it all!!!
Take care...
Have a good day
You two certainly are a great example of being willing to work together as a team. This team is truly one of equals. There are no egos showing as you look to God as your team captain. I would classify you both as MVP's; both essential to the team.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Laverne for what you have accomplished...it is no simple feat. And it really helps when you have John encouraging you as you work on these tasks. This will enable the two of you to come back to Powell River with confidence that you can handle the day to day running of your new life together.
I read this blog every night before bed too, it has become a habit, and I too spend time before sleep praying for you both.
Love,Lee
